Looking into the teaching pedagogical world there are many complicated principles and trends always changing and evolving. One principle has always remained successful and consistent throughout the years. Relationships. Teaching is about creating and maintaining relationships to establish a safe and healthy environment for the students. Just like 1+1, this principle is basic. Many miss the mark or struggle with connecting with students. They lose the sight of education’s goal, educate and inspire young lives. It is easy to get lost in the politics and chaos of paperwork and standardized testing. Building relationships with students can easily go by the way side. Students need to know and feel loved and supported each day. They want to be ensured they will not abandoned or ignored, just like they have already experiences in their daily lives. A teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning. Focusing and believing in each student and meeting them where they are at is vital to a students learning. Once the student feels safe, they are ready to learn and will work at their highest ability. Students respect and lookup to teachers as they quickly become their positive role models. They may forget what you tell them, but they will never forget how you made them feel.
